Showing up for YOU!

This photo was taken when I was warming up for a photo shoot and wasn't looking. And I love it. I had a canvas made of it, and it hangs wherever I live. Much of my life I cared for other people. I spent years raising the most amazing children (my humble opinion) and caring for partners and pets. They were some of the best years of my life. But throughout those years, I tried to make sure that I had moments, hours and sometimes days that were reserved for me. Solace in silence and peace in the void; I would become energized in solitude. I was not always successful, but when I was, it was obvious that it was where I found my strength, my stamina. So when I discovered the practice of yoga, mixing movement, breath and  and the grounding effect of my bare feet on the mat, the quieting of the fluctuations of my mind and the strengthening of my once flaccid muscles, I was transformed. It took my selfcare to a whole new level, one with strong arms and the occasional tiara. Not only did I find peace, but stability and resilience. I love this photo more than any others that show my face because it shows the strength I've grown into. That first day on that mat, I showed up -- for me.
In love, Namaste
